Just found your blog and am enjoying reading it.

Just found your blog when I was looking for blogs about the empty nest. Funny, I finished Mary Karr's "Lit" a couple of months ago, too. I love to hear your thoughts about the empty nest. I've just finished a memoir about my oldest going off to college and how I came undone. It still makes me sad to think about that time even though it was three years ago and she's moved back. Ha!

Isn't it amazing how just a pound here and a pound there can add up? I, too, had dreams about being light on my feet, dancing, and running... then woke up my same old self - chubby, okay fat. Not obese, but sure as heck fat.

That was a couple years ago and ever since then I've been walking, biking, and just plain moving to get rid of the weight. Yes, I weigh less now - not perfect, but less. But, most importantly I feel like a kid again! I hop on my bike and just ride like the wind! This old body is feeling young again!

Congratulations to you and keep up the good work. Oh, and btw... dancing is great exercise, too! ;)
