This morning, while working on a slideshow feature for one of my business blogs about the local area, I looked through some of my digital photos of the beach. Guess what -- I had taken most of them about year ago while visiting and scoping out where and how I'd live.
The last 12 months have been good ones, albeit full of life changes. Here are just a few:
- My kids don't visit even 1/16 as much as I thought they might.
- I've had fewer friends visit than I thought I would.
- I don't get down to the beach as much as I promised I would.
- I don't leave the house as much as I promised I would (the nature of my work, I'm afraid)
- All of my work and income is through self-employment -- not easy these days, but in a way very fulfilling.
- Moving here didn't result in my taking down the Christmas tree any sooner than I did the Christmas before. It's still up.
On the family side of things:
- My youngest brother made it home safe and sound from Iraq!
- I see my Dad on a regular basis.
- Thanksgiving and Christmas were big family events -- just as wonderful as we'd hoped.
- My granddaughter is walking and trying to talk and she's coming for a visit next weekend.
It took me until this week to really settle into a routine. I think I've figured out how I'm doing to do all the activities that I've filled the Empty Nest with, so I plan to get here at least weekly.
So, it's all good. I'm good. I'm ready and all set to start the next 12 months.
