Why I Want to Be Jesse's Girl
Bob would get that headline.
Thanks to everyone who has written or commented on my post about Bob Wooldridge. Word of Bob's untimely death spread quickly. Check out the beautiful obituary written for Bob in The Washington Post. Then take a few minutes to read the guest book entries for just a small sense of how he touched people.
If one can take joy in anything at a time like this, it is learning about the love and regard Bob's extended network of family and friends had for him. Bob's death brought lots of people who hadn't been in touch for some time together again. Just like him.
One person I had not talked to in far too long was Jesse Kornbluth. Every morning, I read Head Butler, the wonderful site where Jesse "serves" intelligent fare to "hungry minds" on a daily basis. I was lucky enough to know Jesse when he was Director of Programming at AOL and especially lucky to have him as an editor for some articles I wrote a few years back. Periodically, something strikes me and I'll think of Jesse and I'll drop him a line or two. He always responds and when he does he is always kind and extremely funny. He was that way as an editor, too.
I suggest Head Butler to everyone, but especially today. Jesse, ever the excellent editor and friend he is, read the e-mail, blog entries and other offerings friends of Bob wrote and cut right to the heart of it all, synthesizing out of thousands of words just the right ones to perfectly describe our Bob.
